Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Islamabad/Rawalpindi has achieved a major breakthrough in protecting national assets by recovering 1,844 kanals of valuable Pakistan Railways land in Jhelum district, with an estimated market value of Rs21.85 billion, in a significant anti-encroachment initiative led by Director General NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi Muhammad Rizwan Khan.
The recovery represents a major step towards safeguarding public property, preventing the illegal occupation of government-owned land and ensuring that valuable national resources remain protected for their lawful use and the benefit of the public.
The recovered land is spread across various revenue estates in Tehsil Jhelum and Tehsil Dina, where the operation has helped secure a substantial public asset belonging to Pakistan Railways. The operation was undertaken in accordance with the directives of NAB Chairman Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmed, with DG NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi Muhammad Rizwan Khan spearheading coordinated efforts for the identification, protection and recovery of government assets from illegal occupation.

The bureau said the recovery demonstrated its continued commitment to protecting national assets, promoting transparency and safeguarding public property. It reiterated that the protection of state resources and action against illegal encroachments remain important elements of its accountability efforts.
The achievement adds to the bureau’s efforts to secure government-owned assets and prevent the unlawful occupation of public land. By facilitating the recovery and protection of this valuable railway property, NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi has reinforced the principle that public assets must be preserved in the national interest.
The bureau reaffirmed its resolve to continue working towards the protection of national resources, strengthening accountability and taking action against illegal encroachments in accordance with the law.
