French ambassador seeks stronger media cooperation with Pakistan

Islamabad: French Ambassador to Pakistan Jean-Noël Poirier on Wednesday expressed his willingness to strengthen engagement with Pakistani journalists and explore new avenues of cooperation with the National Press Club (NPC), highlighting opportunities for professional exchanges, training and closer media relations between the two countries.

The French ambassador made these remarks during a visit to the National Press Club in Islamabad, where he was warmly received by NPC office bearers and senior journalists.

During the visit, Poirier planted a sapling at the Press Club and was briefed on its various departments, facilities, organisational structure and journalistic activities. He also held informal discussions with office-bearers and journalists on the importance of maintaining regular communication and strengthening professional links.

Speaking informally with journalists and NPC office-bearers, Ambassador Poirier welcomed the prospect of working with Pakistani media professionals and exploring practical areas of cooperation with the Press Club. He underscored the importance of continued dialogue and the exchange of views with journalists.

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss closer institutional contacts, professional exchanges and possible joint initiatives in the future, with a particular focus on strengthening the capacity of Pakistani journalists.

The engagement reflects the potential for media-to-media cooperation to complement broader Pakistan-France relations by encouraging professional learning, cultural interaction and sustained communication between journalists of the two countries.
