Pakistan Embassy in Baku observes Kashmir Black Day, reaffirms solidarity with Kashmiri people
Baku: The Embassy of Pakistan in Baku observed Jammu and Kashmir Black Day on October 27, 2026, to commemorate the events of October 27, 1947, when Indian troops landed in Srinagar, marking the beginning of India’s control over Jammu and Kashmir, against the will of its people.
The event was attended by representatives of civil society, think tanks, print and electronic media, members of the Pakistani community, Azerbaijani intellectuals and students.
Messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read out on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Pakistan in Baku, Sara Ijaz, reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Kashmiri people and their right to self-determination. She highlighted the reported human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), particularly following the revocation of Articles 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution on August 5, 2019.
She drew attention to arbitrary arrests, extrajudicial killings, restrictions on media and communications, and alleged attempts to alter the demographic composition of the territory.
Sara Ijaz underscored that Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized dispute and stated that unilateral actions cannot change its disputed status or undermine the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination under relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and international law.
She also appreciated Azerbaijan’s consistent support for the Jammu and Kashmir cause.
A photo exhibition highlighting the human rights situation in IIOJK was organized as part of the observance. Members of the Pakistani community, representatives of Azerbaijani intellectual circles, students and Azerbaijani friends of Pakistan expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
The event reaffirmed Pakistan’s call for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
