Ambassador Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri calls for unity at Pakistan Independence Day celebration in Indonesia

Islamabad/Jakarta: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Indonesia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri this week called for national unity and collective effort to steer the country towards greater peace, stability and prosperity, as the Pakistan Embassy in Jakarta celebrated Independence Day with a ceremony attended by members of the Pakistani community, diplomats and Indonesian friends of Pakistan.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Chaudhri highlighted the significance of Independence Day as an occasion to remember the sacrifices and determination that led to the creation of Pakistan while reaffirming the values of unity, solidarity and service to the nation.

He said Pakistan’s progress depended significantly on the ability of its people to remain united and work together in the larger national interest.

The ambassador emphasised that the spirit of independence should extend beyond ceremonial celebrations and inspire Pakistanis to contribute constructively to the country’s development and strengthen national cohesion.

The ceremony brought together embassy officials, members of the Pakistani diaspora, Indonesian guests, diplomats and friends of Pakistan, providing an opportunity to commemorate the country’s independence while showcasing its cultural heritage and national traditions.

Ambassador Chaudhri also underscored the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Indonesia, noting the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two countries.

He highlighted the potential for deeper engagement in areas including trade, investment, education, culture and people-to-people contacts.

The ambassador said Pakistan and Indonesia shared longstanding bonds of friendship and mutual respect, providing a strong foundation for further expanding bilateral cooperation.

The celebration featured programmes reflecting Pakistan’s national and cultural identity, while participants expressed their pride in the country and reaffirmed their commitment to contributing positively to Pakistan’s image and interests abroad.

The gathering also provided an opportunity for members of the Pakistani community in Indonesia to interact with Indonesian friends and representatives of the diplomatic community, reinforcing people-to-people ties between the two countries.

In his message, Ambassador Chaudhri stressed that unity remained essential for Pakistan to navigate contemporary challenges and realise its development potential.
