Chinese ambassador conveys Independence Day greetings to Pakistan

Islamabad: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar this week, conveying Independence Day greetings to Pakistan’s leadership and people and reaffirming the longstanding ties between the two countries.

The two sides discussed regional developments and other matters of mutual interest, reiterating their commitment to close coordination.

Dar also expressed condolences over the death of a Chinese mountaineer in an avalanche at Broad Peak in Gilgit-Baltistan and assured Jiang of Pakistan’s full assistance in repatriating the remains.

Jiang appreciated the support provided by Pakistani authorities and reaffirmed China’s commitment to its “time-tested” relationship with Pakistan.

Pakistan and China maintain close political and economic ties, with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor remaining a key pillar of bilateral cooperation.
