Natasha Daultana calls for stronger Pakistan-Belarus parliamentary engagement

Islamabad: Convener of the Pakistan–Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group and Member of the National Assembly Natasha Daultana thus week called for enhanced parliamentary engagement between Pakistan and Belarus, saying stronger institutional contacts between lawmakers can play a vital role in expanding bilateral cooperation and deepening ties between the two friendly countries.

In a statement, Daultana said Parliamentary Friendship Groups have emerged as an important platform for parliamentary diplomacy, helping legislatures foster mutual understanding, strengthen political dialogue and promote cooperation in areas of shared interest.

She emphasized that sustained interaction between parliamentarians would complement government-level engagement and create new opportunities to advance bilateral relations through regular exchanges of ideas, legislative experiences and policy cooperation.

Daultana said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Belarus and believes there is considerable scope to further broaden cooperation through closer collaboration between the two countries’ parliamentary institutions.

She stressed that direct interaction among legislators could facilitate dialogue on economic cooperation, trade, investment, education and other mutually beneficial sectors while strengthening people-to-people contacts.

The PPP lawmaker also underscored the importance of establishing regular communication between the Pakistan–Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group and its counterpart in the Belarusian Parliament, saying virtual meetings and institutional exchanges could provide an effective mechanism for maintaining continuous engagement.

Referring to the growing momentum in bilateral relations, Daultana said recent high-level exchanges between Pakistan and Belarus have laid a solid foundation for expanding cooperation across multiple sectors and should now be complemented by stronger parliamentary collaboration.

She reiterated her commitment to promoting parliamentary diplomacy as an important pillar of Pakistan’s foreign relations, expressing confidence that enhanced engagement between lawmakers would contribute to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Belarus.
