Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad greets Hindu community in Pakistan on Diwali
Paris: Pakistani Ambassador to France Asim Iftikhar Ahmad this week greeted the Hindu community in Pakistan on Diwali.
He reported a foreign ministry post on X saying: “Happy Diwali to the Hindu Community in Pakistan and around the world! May this Festival of Lights bring peace, prosperity, and joy to all. On this occasion, we celebrate the diversity of our people and the rich cultural heritage of our nation.”
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, with variations celebrated in other Indian religions such as Jainism and Sikhism. It symbolises the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma, light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.
Diwali is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar months of Ashvin (according to the amanta tradition) and Kartika—between around mid-September and mid-November. The celebrations generally last five or six days.
