Pakistan and Denmark special envoys discuss Afghan migrants

Islamabad: Asif Ali Durrani and Lars Bo Møller, special representatives of Pakistan and Denmark respectively on Afghan affairs, met this week to discuss the issues concerning Afghan migrants.

Asif Ali Durrani, Pakistan’s special representative, announced on X, about his meeting with Lars Bo Møller, Denmark’s special representative on Afghanistan affairs.

Earlier, Thomas West, the United States special representative on Afghanistan affairs, had announced meeting and discussing with Pakistani authorities to facilitate Afghan migrants.

It is worth noting that despite international reactions, the process of expelling Afghan migrants from Pakistan began in November last year and continues to date.

According to statistics from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the past three months, approximately 500,000 Afghan migrants have been expelled from Pakistan.

This comes as the increasing return of Afghan migrants from Pakistan has heightened the humanitarian needs, including shelter, water, and medical care, in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the dire humanitarian situation in Afghanistan remains a pressing concern, exacerbated by the lack of essential resources for returnees, highlighting the urgent need for international assistance and support to address these challenges effectively.
