Pakistani Ambassador provides extensive overview to Chinese groups and enterprises on trade and investment
Islamabad: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, this week provided an extensive overview to Chinese groups and enterprises regarding trade and investment prospects across diverse sectors in Pakistan, including agriculture, energy, infrastructure, transportation, and logistics.
Sharing insights from a highly fruitful roundtable session on trade and investment cooperation held in Chengdu, Sichuan province, Ambassador Hashmi conveyed detailed information to more than a dozen Chinese groups and enterprises.
Reflecting on the event, he underscored the significance of opportunities within Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Science and Technology Zones (STZs), Export Processing Zones (EPZs), and beyond.
As the leader of the Pakistani delegation, Ambassador Hashmi concentrated on fostering trade and investment collaborations across various sectors.
He articulated the Pakistan Embassy’s commitment to establishing a platform for Pakistani and Chinese businesses to explore potential partnerships.
Highlighting the pivotal role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Ambassador Hashmi emphasized how this corridor enhances economic cooperation between the two nations.
He outlined the ongoing deepening of economic and trade cooperation, noting that 56 Chinese enterprises have already established units in Gwadar.
In extending an invitation, he encouraged more enterprises from Sichuan to invest in Pakistan, thereby strengthening economic and trade exchanges between Sichuan and Pakistan.
During the conference, Commercial Counselor Ghulam Qadir elucidated Pakistan’s investment opportunities and policies.
Representatives from 11 Sichuan enterprises spanning infrastructure, commerce, logistics, chemical industry, and new energy expressed keen interest in investing in Pakistan, further reinforcing the growing ties between the two nations.
