Islamabad: A farewell dinner was hosted this week in Islamabad in honour of the outgoing Italian ambassador, bringing together senior government officials, diplomats, and members of the business and diplomatic community in recognition of her services during her tenure in Pakistan.
The event was organised by Chairman of Monal Group Luqman Ali Afzal and attended by a large number of dignitaries, including Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, federal ministers, governors, advisers, and foreign diplomats.
Among the prominent participants were Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and other senior cabinet members, alongside a large representation of ambassadors and high commissioners.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senate chairman praised the outgoing Italian envoy for her efforts in strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Italy. He said her tenure had contributed positively to enhancing cooperation and friendship between the two countries and extended best wishes for her future assignments.
The outgoing ambassador, in remarks shared during the event, said she had deeply appreciated her time in Pakistan and valued the hospitality and warmth extended to her throughout her posting. She expressed confidence that relations between Pakistan and Italy would continue to grow, particularly in trade, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
She also thanked the organisers for hosting the farewell reception, describing it as a memorable gesture of goodwill and friendship from the Pakistani side.
The evening concluded with a dinner featuring a selection of traditional Pakistani and continental cuisine, reflecting the hospitality associated with the host organisation. Guests described the gathering as a warm and cordial occasion that highlighted the strength of diplomatic engagement and personal ties within Pakistan’s foreign relations community.
