Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said this week that Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah was taken to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi for ‘minor procedure’.
Taking to Twitter, she said Rana Sanaullah was in good health, refuting rumors regarding his physical condition. She said “interior Minister Rana Sanaullah visited the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology in Rawalpindi for a routine checkup. There is no truth in the speculations regarding his health.”
Earlier, reports suggested that Rana Sanaullah was taken to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi following chest discomfort. News of Rana Sanaullah’s medical conditions made headlines late last night after a photo of him went viral on social media lying on a stretcher for a medical procedure.
The interior ministry later issued a statement quoting the minister that he was doing fine. “I had visited the hospital for some tests and procedures. I am recovering and would be back to office in a day or two. Please don’t visit me in the hospital as I plan to return home by Sunday,” the statement added.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and other senior leaders of the PML-N contacted Rana Sanaullah and prayed for his speedy recovery and well-being.
