Lahore: Some places remain part of us even when we are far away from them. This enduring connection between place, memory and belonging forms the central theme of “Elsewhere, Always,” a solo exhibition by artist Fatima Saeed, curated by Anne Sophie Francais.
Presented by the Alliance Française de Lahore, the exhibition will open at La Galerie on August 27 and continue through September 4, inviting visitors to engage with a contemplative exploration of the places that shape personal memory and identity.
Through her work, Saeed reflects on the idea that physical distance does not necessarily erase a sense of belonging. Places can continue to exist within us through memories, emotions, fragments of experience and the traces they leave behind.
“Elsewhere, Always” considers the complex relationship between where one is and where one has been, creating a space for viewers to reflect on displacement, attachment and the quiet persistence of memory.
Curated by Anne Sophie Francais, the exhibition brings together an artistic inquiry into how places are remembered and reimagined, encouraging audiences to consider their own emotional connections to places that may be distant, lost or transformed.
The exhibition will be open to visitors from August 27 to September 4, from 12 noon to 6pm, at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Lahore, 155, Street No. 3, Scotch Corner, Upper Mall, Lahore.
With its focus on memory and belonging, “Elsewhere, Always” offers visitors an opportunity to pause and reflect on a simple yet profound idea: sometimes, the places we leave behind continue to accompany us wherever we go.
