Islamabad: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, continues to play a pivotal role in deepening the longstanding friendship and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia, two influential Muslim-majority nations with a shared commitment to regional peace, economic growth and international collaboration.
Since assuming his diplomatic responsibilities in Jakarta, Ambassador Chaudhri has actively worked to enhance bilateral engagement across diverse sectors, including trade, investment, education, culture and people-to-people exchanges. His efforts have contributed to strengthening a relationship that dates back to the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries on April 28, 1950.
Pakistan and Indonesia enjoy warm and cordial relations rooted in mutual respect, shared values and close cooperation on regional and global issues. As members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Developing Eight (D-8), both countries have consistently supported initiatives aimed at promoting economic development and cooperation among developing nations.
Ambassador Chaudhri has emphasised the vast untapped potential in Pakistan-Indonesia relations, particularly in trade and investment. Through regular engagement with Indonesian government officials, business leaders and academic institutions, he has promoted Pakistan as an attractive destination for investment and economic partnership.
The ambassador has also championed cultural diplomacy, highlighting the rich heritage, diversity and tourism opportunities of Pakistan while fostering greater understanding between the peoples of the two countries. His outreach initiatives have helped strengthen educational and cultural exchanges, further reinforcing the bonds of friendship between Islamabad and Jakarta.
Indonesia, home to the world’s largest Muslim population, and Pakistan, the second-largest Muslim-majority country, share a common vision for peace, stability and prosperity. Under Ambassador Chaudhri’s stewardship, bilateral cooperation has continued to expand, reflecting the enduring strength of the Pakistan-Indonesia partnership.
