Islamabad: Anne-Sophie has been re-elected in the 2026 Consular Elections representing French communities across Central Asia and neighbouring regions, securing a commanding 77.21% of the vote across a vast nine-country constituency spanning Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan.
The result marks a significant endorsement of her leadership and public service record, and will see her assume the presidency of the Consular Council, a role that carries responsibility for representing and coordinating support for French citizens living across the region.
The election outcome reflects broad support among French expatriate communities spread across a geographically and culturally diverse region. According to the results, Anne-Sophie’s list achieved a clear majority in all parts of the constituency, culminating in an overall regional vote share of 77.21%.
The nine-country electoral zone is among the most extensive in the French consular network, encompassing parts of Central Asia, the South Caucasus, South Asia, and the Middle East. French citizens living in these countries rely on consular representation for administrative support, civic engagement, and coordination with French diplomatic services.
With this decisive victory, Anne-Sophie will now serve as President of the Consular Council for the constituency, a position that involves representing French nationals’ interests, facilitating communication with French diplomatic missions, and addressing community concerns across multiple jurisdictions.
The role is particularly significant given the logistical and political complexity of the region, where French citizens are dispersed across countries with varying administrative systems, security environments, and levels of access to consular services.
In a statement following the announcement of the results, Anne-Sophie expressed deep gratitude to voters and supporters, describing the outcome as both a privilege and a responsibility.
She highlighted the trust placed in her by French communities across the region and emphasised that the result reflects a collective effort rather than an individual achievement.
“This is both a tremendous privilege and a great responsibility, which I embrace with enthusiasm, determination, and gratitude,” she said, noting that the success belongs to all those who support efforts to strengthen consular services and community engagement.
The newly elected President is expected to continue prioritising support for French citizens living abroad, particularly in remote or complex jurisdictions where access to consular services can be limited.
French consular councils play an advisory and representative role, helping to identify community needs, support local initiatives, and maintain links between expatriate populations and France’s diplomatic network.
The scale of the constituency, stretching from the Caucasus to Central and South Asia, places the Consular Council among the more diverse French representative bodies abroad. The election result is therefore seen as a strong regional mandate, reflecting both continuity and confidence in existing leadership structures.
Observers note that such a high vote share across a wide and varied electorate underscores the cohesion of the French community’s representation system in the region.
As she begins her new term, Anne-Sophie is expected to focus on strengthening communication channels between French citizens and consular institutions, improving accessibility of services, and supporting community initiatives across the nine-country constituency.
The result signals both continuity and renewed confidence, as she takes on the presidency of the Consular Council with a clear mandate and a strong electoral backing from French communities across Central Asia and neighbouring regions.
