High Commissioner Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri highlights rural culture of Pakistan
Canberra: Pakistani High Commissioner to Australia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri this week highlighted the rural culture of Pakistan.
“Bull racing – Raw energy of rural life in Pakistan,” he posted on X along with a beautiful picture to support his statement.
A traditional sport deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of rural Punjab, Bill racing continues to thrive as these events draw large crowds and celebrate Pakistan’s vibrant heritage.
In this centuries-old sport, two powerful bulls are fastened together with a heavy wooden frame and race down a dirt track. Standing behind them on a wooden plank, the rider — holding only ropes for support — steers the bulls at high speed, creating dramatic scenes of dust, danger, and determination.

The races are a reflection of Punjab’s rural lifestyle, highlighting values of honour, strength, and community spirit. They also serve as a form of social gathering, where villagers unite to celebrate a shared cultural legacy.
