Islamabad: Ambassador of Bulgaria to Pakistan Irena Gancheva is working tirelessly to bring her country and Pakistan even closer.

Ambassador of Bulgaria to Pakistan, Ms. Irena Gancheva expressed her commitment to strengthen Pak-Bulgaria bilateral relations through a program of cooperation in the field of culture and much more! In today’s interconnected world, faced with numerous challenges, the role of culture in foreign policy and international relations is increasing as it successfully serves as a core instrument for building bridges of mutual understanding, trust and friendship.” The envoy emphasizes the need for Pakistan and Bulgaria to explore opportunities for collaboration, noting the underutilized potential between the two countries.

She said Bulgaria is committed to working together with Pakistan towards strengthening and expanding traditionally good relations in areas of mutual interest, recognizing the importance of the culture of exchange. The ambassador said, “Our two countries have already finalized the text of a program for cooperation in the field of culture, which we hope will design very soon, thus paving the way for various collateral activities.” ”We admire the rich, historical and cultural heritage of Pakistan and its diverse and breathtaking nature, and look forward to exploring more avenues for establishing successful partnerships in joint research and publications, exchange of knowledge and information, and different forms of collaboration in art, literature, archaeology, and history with the participation of the competent institutions of the two countries”

In a recent media interaction, Ambassador Gancheva highlighted Bulgaria’s strengths in various sectors including food processing, agriculture, IT, and new technologies.

She called for improving the bilateral trade figures and observed new trends in trade with Bulgaria exporting wheat and importing primarily textiles from Pakistan, similar to trends across the European Union.

She provided detailed insights into Bulgaria’s advantageous taxation system for investors and its strong traditions, offering access to EU markets with 1.3 billion customers since joining the EU in 2007.

The Ambassador noted Bulgaria’s prowess in information technology, automotive, mechanical engineering, electronics, mechatronics, and robotics, emphasizing its low operational costs and strong manufacturing sector. She also mentioned Bulgaria’s top ten ranking for fastest mobile internet and world-class artificial intelligence research, urging further exploration of trade and partnership opportunities.

The ambassador said, despite the relatively small territory, Bulgaria is proud to have ten sites on the UNESCO World Heritage list, seven cultural and three natural. She said, that two of the cultural sites belonging to the Thracian period including Tomb of Kazanlak situated in the co-called valley of the Thracian Kings, which is a stunning example of Thracian painting art from the end of 4th century BC the second site he said, is the 3rd century BC Thracian Tomb of Sveshtari, located in northern Bulgaria which is decorated with the unique stone carvings Secretary for National Heritage and Culture

Gancheva highlighted Bulgaria’s inclusion in the GSP Plus arrangements and promised to share information on international exhibitions in Bulgaria with the Lahore Chamber.
