Islamabad: Former Interior Minister Senator Rehman Malik’s sons Ali Rehman Malik and Umar Rehman Malik this week paid tribute to former premier Benazir Bhutto for her unmatched services to the nation.

“Remembering Shaheed Mohtarma #BenazirBhutto for her unmatched service to Pakistan and its people, her patience, bravery, fearlessness, and struggle against extremist forces. December 27 will always be marked as a dark day in history,” Ali Rehman Malik tweeted.

In his tweet, Umar Rehman Malik said 15 years passed since “SM #BenazirBhutto has left us but she is still alive & ruling hearts of millions. It seemed as if y’day was that devastating evening of 2007. Her absence is felt more than ever. Remembering the days spent with SMBB & my late father @SenRehmanMalik. RIP.”

The 15th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was observed with reverence all over the country on December 27.

Benazir Bhutto was born on June 21, 1953 in Karachi’s Pinto Hospital. Born to a popular political family of Sindh, Benazir Bhutto was the daughter of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who later founded Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and granddaughter of Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto. Her mother, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, was from Iranian-Kurdish descent and Benazir was the eldest among her four kids.

On December 27, 2007, Benazir went to Liaquat Baagh, Rawalpindi, to address a massive public meeting. She delivered a fiery speech. Just like her father used to do.

Returning, happy, from the venue, Benazir Bhutto saw a group of supporters chanting slogans around her car. She stood up through the sun-roof of the car roof to waive her hand at the supporters. And just then, out of nowhere, a terrorist shot her in the head.
