Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Umar Rehman Malik has welcomed PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s decision to give more time to Punjab in the coming months.
Speaking to Covert, Umar Rehman Malik said the presence of Zardari – a former President of Pakistan – in Punjab will moblise the PPP voters for the general elections.
Umar Rehman Malik, the son of renowned PPP leader the late Senator Rehman Malik, said the PPP has a big vote bank in Punjab and it will perform much better in the general elections.
“Asif Ali Zardari knows the art of politics. He has the experience to moblise the PPP workers,” Malik said.
He said the PPP Punjab is all set to extend a warm reception to Asif Ali Zardari on his decision to make Lahore as headquarters of the party.
He maintained that the PPP workers were exuberant over the decision and believe that the party would be strengthened in terms of organisation with permanent stay of Zardari in the city.
Umar Rehman Malik said, the commitment of making Lahore as party’s stronghold by Zardari had won the hearts of party workers and they are ready to make his Gulberg residence as their second home.
Earlier, the former president had assured his party workers of spending maximum time in Punjab to revive the party.
Addressing a gathering of party workers at Bilawal House, he had told his party workers that he would be sitting in Punjab from now onwards to do politics to revive the party with their help.
