Ambassador Andreas Ferrarese hosts former PM Yusuf Raza Gilani

Islamabad: Italian Ambassador Andreas Ferrarese this week invited Senator Yusuf Raza Gilani, former Prime Minister of Pakistan and Leader of the Opposition in Senate at his residence.
Both the sides discussed historical linkages between the two countries and shared perception on broad range of regional and international issues.
Italian Ambassador Andreas Ferrarese said that he and his colleagues in Italy were looking forward to welcome Leader of the Opposition in Rome.
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Senator Yusuf Raza Gilani will be leading a delegation from the Senate of Pakistan to attend the Pre-COP26 parliamentary meeting going to be held in Rome, Italy on 8-9 October.
This meeting will bring together parliaments from around the world and provide a platform for discussing how to advance parliamentary action on climate change at the national, regional and international level, in the context of COP26.
Senator Yusuf Raza Gilani, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate will be presenting the case of Pakistan to reflect on what has been achieved since the Paris Agreement was ratified by Pakistan in 2016 and to set concrete plans to reach the Paris Agreement targets, at a time when the climate crisis is more critical.
The two sides also discussed progress on the project renovation and restoration of historical buildings in Multan.
The project was initiated during the premiership of Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani when the former Prime Minister had asked his Italian counterpart to provide consultancy to preserve the historical status of Multan on the pattern of the renovation of Rome.
It was agreed that the Ambassador will soon visit Multan to oversee the renovation work and discuss number of other opportunities for promoting cultural and religious tourism in Pakistan with the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.
