High Commissioner Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri attends Pakistani hero’s funeral
Canberra: High Commissioner for Pakistan to Australia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri this week attended the funeral of Faraz Ahmed Tahir and bid him final farewell.
Later, the envoy stated that Faraz gave his life to save others. His bravery, courage, and selflessness will always be remembered, he added.
The High Commissioner also conveyed sympathy and prayers for all the victims of the tragic events of Bondi Junction and prayed for fast and full recovery of the injured, including another Pakistani Hero Muhammad Taha.
The funeral ceremony was attended by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, NSW Premier, MPs, Senators, and a large number of community members
Earlier, High Commissioner Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, visited the injured Pakistani national of the Bondi Junction stabbing incident Muhammad Taha at a Sydney hospital.
During the visit, the High Commissioner expressed heartfelt sympathies and prayers for his fast and full recovery and reassured assistance in any way possible to aid in the recovery process.
In a remarkable act of bravery, two Pakistani citizens, Muhammad Taha and his colleague Faraz Ahmad Tahir, exhibited extraordinary courage by confronting the assailant during the incident. Faraz gave his life and Taha sustained serious injuries while saving others. Their bravery and sacrifice will always be remembered.
Tragically, Faraz was the only male victim to lose his life in the horrific stabbing attack. His loss will be deeply felt by his family, friends, the Pakistani community and beyond.
The Pakistani Diaspora in Australia, known for its resilience and unity, has once again come together in the face of adversity. Their unwavering support for one another and the broader community is commendable.
Beyond their own community, Pakistanis have continuously demonstrated compassion and selflessness during challenging times, whether it be during the COVID-19 pandemic, bushfires, or floods in Australia. The Pakistani Diaspora has consistently been at the forefront, offering assistance and support to those in need.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, the High Commissioner also extended deepest sympathies to all the victims and their families affected by the recent senseless act of violence at Westfield Bondi Junction. He prayed for the full and fast recovery of all the injured.
The High Commissioner also appreciated the swift response and professionalism demonstrated by the first response teams during the incident. He commended their dedication and bravery in ensuring the safety and well-being of all affected individuals are commendable.
