Australian investors ready to invest in Pakistan: Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri
Canberra: Pakistani High Commissioner to Australia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said this week that Australian investors were ready to invest in Pakistan.
“Had an excellent meeting with Mr Michael Carter, Head of International Trade & Investment Centre, Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Western Australia,” he tweeted.
The envoy added: “Large mining companies from WA are showing tremendous interest in Pakistan’s mining sector.”
Pakistan and Australia have strong bilateral business relations. Australia is one of the top 15 trading partners of Pakistan, and the fifth largest trading partner of Pakistan within the Asia-Pacific region. In 2021, the total trade volume between Pakistan and Australia was $1.81 billion, with Pakistan exporting $314 million worth of goods to Australia and importing $1.5 billion worth of goods from Australia.
The main exports from Pakistan to Australia include textiles, clothing, rice, and fruits. The main imports from Australia to Pakistan include coal, wheat, and machinery.
