PPP will win big chunk of Punjab seats in general elections: Natasha Daultana
Staff Writer
Islamabad: Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Natasha Daultana said this week that the PPP will win a big chunk of seats in the general elections in Punjab.
She said the PPP was ready for elections any time but election reforms were the top agenda of the coalition government.
Dispelling rumours pertaining to the PPP wanting to stick to power, she said the PPP in fact wanted the parliament to complete the term and also hold general elections after the elections reforms.
“Our agenda from day one was very clear. Get the reforms done and move towards elections,” she said.
The PPP leader went on to say that sans election reforms, the next government would become instantly controversial as losing parties would cry foul.
Natasha Daultana said the purpose of election reform was not to only undo the changes brought by Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) but they also wanted to bring in reform on a broad range of issues, from fairness of elections to ensuring no external interference is done.
She further said the PPP also wants the PTI to become part of the election reform process.
