SINOVAC keen to invest in Pakistan, set up joint venture to treat Covid

Islamabad: SINOVAC has expressed keen interest in setting up a joint venture for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of Covid by investing in Pakistan.
A delegation of the company discussed the opportunities with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at a meeting here. SINOVAC’s General Manager Qiang Gao led the Chinese company delegation.
The Prime Minister was briefed on the vaccine provided by SINOVAC to Pakistan during the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
During the meeting, SINOVAC expressed keen interest to invest in Pakistan for a joint venture.
In his comments, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed that increasing foreign direct investment in the country is one of the top priorities of the government.
Emphasizing the importance of China-Pakistan ideal friendship, the Prime Minister maintained that the government welcomes the investment offer made by the Chinese company and would extend all possible cooperation in this regard.
The Prime Minister directed the Federal Minister of Health Abdul Qadir Patel to immediately form a task force in this regard so that SINOVAC could start work on the project soon.
The meeting was attended by Qiang Gao General Manager SINOVAC, Director International Business Kevin Zhang, Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel, Executive Director National Institute of Health Major General Professor Amir Ikram and relevant senior officials.
