Islamabad: Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan Lis Rosenholm said this week that like human health, the health of Earth was also very important.
“Human health & health of the earth are inextricably linked. Together we can play our role by promoting healthy societies. At the Embassy we aim to create knowledge, showcase international best practices & connect do’ers,” she tweeted.
She added: “”the embassy) hosted networking event with key stakeholders working in earth’s health including policymakers, academia, international orgnisations and companies to discuss public-partnerships to promote healthcare.”
On World Health Day 2022, Climate change was described as the biggest global health threat of the 21st century, with a high frequency of climate-related health hazards and fatalities due to malnutrition, and increased propagation of vector-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue and heat stress, among others.
The number of people migrating because of the adverse impacts of climate change and environmental degradation on their livelihoods, daily lives and health, is expected to rise, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia and the Pacific and South Asia (World Bank, 2021) if action is not taken.
