High Commissioner Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri wishes Sikh community in Pakistan and abroad happy Guru Nanak Jayanti

Canberra: Pakistani High Commissioner to Australia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri this week wished the Sikh community in Pakistan and abroad a happy Guru Nanak Jayanti.

“Wishing the Sikh community a joyous and blessed Guru Nanak Jayanti. Plan a visit to #NankanaSahib and #KartarpurSahib to experience these sacred sites. Take advantage of our No Fee Visa Prior to Arrival policy and explore Pakistan’s commitment to religious tourism,” he posted on X.

Earlier, Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi issued over 3000 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India to participate in the birthday celebrations of Guru Nanak to be held in Pakistan from 14-23 November 2024. Guru Nanak is regarded as the founder of Sikhism and is the first of the ten Sikh Gurus.

“Expressing his views on the occasion, Charge d’Affaires, Mr. Saad Ahmad Warraich, extended his heartfelt felicitations and wished the pilgrims a fulfilling yatra,” the post on microblogging site X read.

Every year, Guru Nanak Jayanti (birthday) is celebrated on the full moon day of the lunar month of Kartik to celebrate the Sikh leader’s birth. This year, Guru Nanak Jayanti was celebrated on November 15.

Indian Sikh pilgrims who will travel to Pakistan also visited Dera Sahib, Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib.
