Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad reaffirms support to Kashmiris’ right to self determination
Paris: Ambassador of Pakistan to France Asim Iftikhar Ahmad this week reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to support the Kashmiri people in achieving their legitimate right to self-determination.
He was speaking at a webinar regarding Youm-e-Istehsal, marking the 5 years of India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Ther envoy called for making synergized efforts across political, diplomatic, legal, and human rights fronts to promote and project the Kashmir cause effectively, with an emphasis on enhanced outreach by the diaspora to the international community.
He said a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, aligned with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people, is essential for regional peace and stability.
The Ambassador urged the UN Security Council to fulfill its primary responsibility and ensure the implementation of its resolutions on Kashmir.
While strongly condemning India’s illegal actions of 5 August 2019, he said it is moral responsibility of the international community to bring an immediate end to Indian oppression, widespread atrocities and grave violations of human rights of the Kashmiri people.
Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad rejected India’s illegal actions and highlighted the continued determination of Kashmiris in their pursuit of self-determination and freedom from Indian occupation.
