Kazakhstan invites Pakistan to join first North-South transport forum in Aktau

Astana. Kazakhstan this week invited Pakistan to participate in the 1st Transport, Trade and Logistics Forum “North-South,” scheduled to be held on July 19–20 in Aktau, Trend reports.

The corresponding invitation was made by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin to Abdul Aleem Khan, Federal Minister for the Board of Investment, Privatization, and Communication.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the prospects for interaction in the transport and logistics sector, which is a key element of Kazakh-Pakistani cooperation.

The parties noted the significant transit potential of both countries, the qualitative development of which can have a positive effect not only for Kazakhstan and Pakistan, but also for the regions of Central and South Asia. In this context, the main corridors are identified along which the transportation of goods from Kazakhstan has intensified, including to third countries through the seaports of Pakistan.

Abdul Aleem Khan supported the need to develop and strengthen transport and logistics routes connecting the two countries and regions, which will certainly help increase both bilateral and regional trade, as well as intensify new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Meanwhile, the North-South Transport Corridor was founded on an international agreement signed on September 12, 2000, by Russia, Iran, and India. The agreement has been ratified by 13 nations in total (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Armenia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Sultanate of Oman, Russia, Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Ukraine).
