Pakistan invites UAE to invest in CPEC projects

Islamabad: Pakistan this week invited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to invest in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
In a meeting with Dr Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the UAE, Pakistani Federal Minister for Industries and Commerce Dr Gohar Ejaz discussed the options to enhance bilateral trade and investment.
The discussions concentrated on boosting bilateral trade and identifying promising areas for UAE’s investment in Pakistan’s service and logistics domains, said an official statement.
These encompass crucial aspects such as developing ports, logistics hubs, and aviation facilities, expanding shipping and cargo services, and investing in modern technologies and services to enhance efficiency. Both ministers affirmed their commitment to simplifying procedures and fostering a favorable environment for UAE investors.
They recognized substantial potential for collaboration in these sectors, anticipating not only increased trade but also the generation of employment opportunities and contributions to the overall economic growth of both nations.
Dr Ejaz, speaking on the occasion, expressed excitement about the forthcoming opportunities in economic cooperation with the UAE, envisioning a vibrant and interconnected future conducive to mutually beneficial investments and trade initiatives.
The Special Economic Zones (SEZs) under the CPEC were seen as great investment opportunities for the regional countries as well as global investors.
This meeting signifies a noteworthy advancement in the Pak-UAE economic partnership, with both nations prioritizing investments in infrastructure, modern technologies, and key service sectors to achieve sustainable growth and fortify their global presence.
