Islamabad: Italy’s Ambassador to Pakistan Andreas Ferrarese has said that to strengthen their economic ties, Pakistan and Italy are eyeing an expansion of their bilateral trade and investment relations.
Despite a current bilateral trade volume of approximately one billion euros, the envoy emphasized that this figure does not truly reflect the potential both nations possess. He urged concerted efforts to double the trade volume, highlighting the capacity of both countries to engage in a broader spectrum of trade items.
The Ambassador stressed the importance of developing robust business linkages between private sectors to explore untapped areas of cooperation.
He identified numerous sectors within Pakistan’s economy offering lucrative opportunities for joint ventures and investments. He encouraged Italian investors to bring in technology and explore business opportunities within Pakistan. Italian officials, in response, shared insights into Italy’s annual exports exceeding 700 billion euros. They advocated for diversification of trade to achieve better results and offered advanced technology solutions to benefit Pakistan’s economy.
Ambassador Ferrarese emphasized the regular occurrence of trade fairs and exhibitions in Italy, urging active participation from the Pakistani business community to enhance bilateral relations.
