Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Umar Rehman Malik said this week that PPP’s association with Lahore was historic.
“The association between Lahore & #PPP is historic that began on 30 November 1967 when ZA Bhutto Shaheed launched the PPP in Lahore. Giving international importance to Lahore, Shaheed #ZulfiqarAliBhutto organized the second Islamic Summit in Lahore,” he posted on X.
He added: “When Shaheed Mohtarma #BenazirBhutto decided to return home after the dark period of martial law, she chose Lahore and was welcomed by a historic crowd in April 1986. Lahore has a history of diehard workers of PPP who played an important role in the country’s political affairs and struggle and who will always be remembered in history. Their descendants are certainly looking for another Bhutto who has arrived.”
He said Bilawal’s decision to contest election from NA-127 is a continuation of unmatched love and faith between PPP and Lahore. The decision is based on trust and confidence that spans decades and has a golden history.
“The #NewYear 2024 will add another golden chapter in the history of PPP and Lahore,” he maintained.
Earlier, Bilawal’s nomination papers were approved from Lahore’s NA-127. On December 27, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had unveiled a 10-point election manifesto of his party to deal with the challenges being faced the country and provide relief to the people.
Bilawal said if the PPP was voted to power in next election, it would overcome inflation, unemployment, poverty and issues affecting the common people by implementing its manifesto.
