Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Yousuf Raza Gilani this week called for transparent polls on Sunday.
Speaking to journalists in Lodhran, the former prime minister said: “There seems to be no choice but to delay elections following the assurances of the president, chief justice, and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).”
“Every political party will contest elections according to its own manifesto. The PPP is playing on the front foot,” he said.
He made it clear that former president Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were on the same page.
About the possibility of seat adjustments with the political parties, Gilani said: “I do not think that we [PPP] are going on to go for the seat adjustment in the elections.”
