PPP unsung hero of stabilising national economy: Umar Rehman Malik

Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Umar Rehman Malik said this week that the PPP had always been the unsung hero of stabilising the national economy.

“The PPP has always been the unsung hero of stabilising the national economy. The government between 2008-2013 had to contend with an average global Brent oil price of $94.95 however the years following that (2014-2022) saw the average price at only $62.80/BL,” he reminded.

He added: “Despite these daunting global oil prices the PPP government managed to stabilise the economy and bring inflation down from 20.69% to 7.69%. Data speaks for itself!”

Earlier, PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stressed the need for the country to stay away from the politics of world powers and instead focus on resolving its own economic problems to achieve its international goals.

He also called for collective efforts by the world powers to root out the menace of terrorism. “First of all, there is the need to bring political stability in Pakistan. In order to bring political stability, the next government and opposition [after the next general elections] will have to play a responsible role while sticking to the Charter of Democracy.”

Bilawal stressed the need for devising a comprehensive road map for achieving political and economic stability by engaging the reconcilable opposition members.

“I will try to do politics in a positive way so that we can move towards resolving the problems of this country. But the correct identification [of the root causes] is also necessary to resolve these problems,” he continued.
