Pakistani NA Speaker, NPC chairman hold online talks, vow to enhance cooperation

Islamabad: Zhao Leji, the chairman of China’s National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, engaged in a video link discussion with Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, the Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly (NA).
During the talks, Zhao emphasized China’s readiness to collaborate with Pakistan in implementing important agreements made by their leaders, furthering exchanges and cooperation across various domains, and advancing the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership for greater development.
Zhao praised Pakistan for its unwavering support on matters concerning China’s core interests, expressing China’s willingness to strengthen strategic coordination and foster an even closer China-Pakistan community of shared future in the new era.
He expressed hope for deepening practical cooperation, elevating the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), enhancing friendly people-to-people exchanges, and working together on international and regional issues to promote fair and equitable global governance.
He also appreciated Pakistan’s support for the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, as well as their participation in China’s proposals and initiatives.
Zhao also expressed the NPC’s willingness to cooperate with Pakistan’s National Assembly in strengthening exchanges, sharing governance experiences, issuing and approving relevant legal documents, and providing legal support for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Belt and Road Initiative’s high-quality development.
In response, Ashraf assured Pakistan’s steadfast support for China’s core interests and pledged to collaborate closely in the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and jointly advancing the Belt and Road initiative.
The Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan expressed eagerness to enhance exchanges and mutual learning with China’s NPC, contributing positively as a legislative body to promoting cooperation in various fields and bolstering bilateral relations.
