Nepal-Pakistan Friendship ‘T20 Cricket Tournament-2023’ organized
Kathmandu: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu this week organized the Inaugural Ceremony of the “8th Edition of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament-2023.”
The event was inaugurated by C.P. Mainali, former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal as Chief Guest. Bina Raj Pandey, former President of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) graced the event as the Special Guest.
Addressing the ceremony, Mainali, a veteran Nepali Communist appreciated the Embassy’s initiative for successfully organizing the event every year. He highlighted the potential of cricket and sports in bringing the youth of two countries together.
Pandey in his remarks also lauded the efforts of Pakistan Embassy for organizing such events, which not only strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries, but also serve as an opportunity to enhance sports activities amongst the Nepali youngsters.
In his remarks, Pakistani Charge d` Affaires Umair Ali highlighted the importance of sports and outdoor activities.
He said that the cricket was not just a sport, it also serves as a platform to bring people together and fosters spirit of camaraderie and teamwork. He further stated that this event would contribute to further deepening the friendly ties between the two countries.
Ali thanked the distinguished guests and the Nepalese government for their support in organizing the event.
Notably, this year about twelve cricket teams are participating in the nine-days event. The Tournament is scheduled to conclude on 18 th March 2023. The event will be streamed live on Nepalese channel “Action Sports”.
