Roberto Neccia promotes green, echo friendly environment

Islamabad: Italy’s Deputy Head of Mission of Italian Embassy Roberto Neccia this week participated here in the ECOTHON 2023, a 10-kilometer marathon to promote awareness about environment.

“As an athlete I was proud to participate to this wonderful sport event organized by UAE embassy in coordination with the Prime Minister’s youth program. It was a good occasion for me to combine my passion for the running. I participated in 5 half marathon and I am member of the Italian federation of running athletes and the important cause of promoting an echo friendly environment. I thank all my friends who participated in this sport event,” he told Covert.

The senior diplomat added: “It was also an opportunity to send a message to all our friends on the importance of combining sport and promoting a green and echo friendly environment for us and for our children. At the end it was a success for everybody and I am proud to get the medal of course.”

Roberto Neccia said he was not the first to arrive at the finish line “but I scored a good tempo and was well positioned in the final arrival.”

The marathon was held under the aegis of Prime Minister’s Youth Program and the UAE embassy. The theme of the race titled ECOTHON 2023 was ‘Clean and Healthy Environment’.

A large number of people from all walks of life including ambassadors and high commissioners participated in the race.

The purpose of the marathon was to create awareness among the masses about the negative impacts of climate and change. More than 1000 participants took part in the race.

Roberto Neccia said environment was a very important global issue. “I am pleased to participate in the event. Such initiatives help in promoting awareness among the people,” he said.

Roberto Neccia said Italy supports a clean and green environment across the world and had been cooperating with Pakistan on the subject.

At the event, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima said there was a dire need to create awareness among the masses about the climate change and its negative impacts on human lives.
