Islamabad: Ambassador of Denmak to Pakistan Lis Rosenholm this week appreciated Pakistani manufacturers for creating opportunities for local communities.

“Pakistani manufacturers create development for local communities & more women in the workforce. Call on Pakistani manufacturers to be more present in the global debate on sustainability. Move from ‘standard takers’ to ‘standard makers’,” she tweeted after meeting the Pakistani manufacturers.

The envoy added: “We all have it & all use it, fashion & textiles! But do you know challenges in the industry? Fashion contributes 4% of global carbon emissions, 80% of all clothing is landfilled or incinerated, 35% of micro-plastic pollution in oceans comes from microfibers. What can we do.”

The Ambassador said she explored this issue with Pakistan-Denmark Business Club and key partners in industry. “Takeaways: need to move from soft to hard law. DK companies w high ambitions & strongly engaged. Collaboration changing. Sustainability requires partners across supply chain to work together,” she wrote on Twitter.
