Islamabad: Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan Lis Rosenholm this week supported biking as an environment friendly option.
“Biking is environment-friendly and inspires you to care for both people and the planet. In Denmark. we rely 100 % on groundwater – so we care a lot about how we treat our water resources. Let´s make every drop count and go #Green Together,” she tweeted.
In Denmark, 99 percent of drinking water comes from groundwater—water that exists in saturated zones beneath the land surface.
Groundwater provides almost half of all drinking water worldwide, about 40% of water for irrigated agriculture and about 1/3 of water supply required for industry. It sustains ecosystems, maintains the baseflow of rivers and prevents land subsidence and seawater intrusion.
