Pakistan needs innovations in agriculture sector like China: Pakistani Food Minister

Sargodha: Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam said this week that Pakistan needed innovations in the agriculture sector like China.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Agricultural Show 2022 at the University of Sargodha.
Imam maintained that the development of agriculture sector was the top priority of the incumbent government as it contributed massively to the national economy.
“We need innovations like China to boost our agriculture sector. China is producing so many agricultural products. They (the Chinese side) are helping us and we hope to move forward fast,” he mentioned.
Imam underlined the need of more innovation in the agriculture sector, like precision agriculture, to maximize the yield and uplift the living standard of the Pakistani farmers.
Fakhar Imam urged students to move forward in the field of agriculture and to get them equipped with the latest research and technology for adding value to national agri-economic industry and its growth.
The Minister informed that steps were being taken to increase agricultural exports in line with the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
“This exhibition held today in Sargodha district is one of those series. It will not only make the farmers aware of modern production technology but also increase the agricultural exports,” he noted.
In his speech at the ceremony Punjab Provincial Agriculture Minister Hussain Gardezi emphasised that although the world’s economy suffered deficits as a result of COVID-19, Pakistan’s economy remained stable because to the robust agriculture and manufacturing sectors.
Around 75 stalls were set up in the show from numerous organizations to facilitate local farmers.
Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam earlier inaugurated the two-day agricultural exhibition organized by the Agriculture Department Punjab at University of Sargodha.
Minister for Agriculture Punjab Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi and Secretary Agriculture Punjab Asad Rehman Gilani also participated.
