Islamabad: Pakistan will offer Permanent Residency (PR) to Chinese nationals who want to stay and invest in the country under a new National Security Policy, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had launched the public version of the first-ever National Security Policy document at a ceremony in the Prime Minister’s Office.
Later, in a tweet, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said: “In line with new National Security Policy, through which Pakistan declared geo-economics as core of its national security doctrine, the government has decided to allow permanent residency scheme for foreign nationals, new policy allows foreigners to get permanent resident status in lieu of investment.”
He added that the Pakistani government will offer PR to foreign investors, especially to fetch heavy investments from Chinese, Afghan and American Sikhs.
Pakistan expects to fetch billions of US dollars of foreign investment by giving Pakistani nationality and proprietary rights to foreign investors.
Prime Minister Khan is scheduled to pay a three day visit to China from February 3 to attend the opening ceremony of Winter Olympics Games, Beijing 2022 at the invitation of Chinese leadership.
During his visit, Prime Minister Khan will have interaction with the Chinese leadership to further strengthen Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and to exchange views on regional and international issues.
Foreign Office spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmed said Pakistan looked forward to the successful Winter Olympics in Beijing.
