Pakistani gets Japan’s highest civilian award

Quetta: The Japan government has honoured Syed Feroz Alam Shah, the founding director of Pak-Japan Business Forum, with the Japanese imperial decoration, the Order of the Rising Sun, for his contribution for developing economic and cultural relations between the two countries.

The award was conferred on Mr Shah, who belongs to Balochistan, by Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Matsuda Juninori at a ceremony held at his residence in Islamabad.

The Order of the Rising Sun was established in the late 19th century by Emperor Meiji. The badge features a symbol of the sun with rays arising from it, which is a part of Japanese symbolism (Japan is known as the Land of the Rising Sun).

This award is bestowed upon those who make exemplary achievements in fostering international relations, promotion of Japanese culture and making similar noteworthy contributions.

The Order of the Rising Sun is the highest award that is conferred upon civilians.

Earlier, this award was given to honorary Consul General of Japan for Balochistan Syed Nadeem Alam Shah in 2016 for his contribution to strengthening of Pak-Japan ties and promoting close relations.

Mr Shah is a member of the President’s Committee of Emerging Technology and Director of a Consultancy firm, National Engineering Corporation (NEC).
