CPEC Industrial Cooperation picking up pace, says senior Pakistani official

Malam Jabba: China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Industrial Cooperation (IC) is picking up pace, said a senior Pakistani government official.
Project Director Industrial Cooperation of Board of Investment (BOI) Ayub Asim said the CPEC Industrial Cooperation was all-inclusive in its scope and open to third-party participation.

“The CPEC Industrial Cooperation is a long-term endeavor, and it is picking up pace, lately. It is a pleasure to share with you all that CPEC Industrial Cooperation is all-inclusive in its scope and open to third-party participation,” he said at the International Silk Road Summit.
The Summit was organized by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Academy Pakistan here, said an official statement released here.

Asim said the SDGs Academy was doing a wonderful job in enhancing Pakistan’s business ties. He emphasized that against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, connectivity among nations of the world had been redefined, and CPEC, under the umbrella of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), could play a unifying role in bringing the economies of the region together. He said CPEC will bring across-the-board socio-economic as well as industrial transformation.

The Project Director said that CPEC was not only a gateway to prosperity for the whole region but is also in line with the SDGs and will bring across-the-board socio-economic as well as industrial transformation.
He told the audience that Pakistan and China had agreed to launch industrial cooperation under CPEC in 2016 during the 6th JCC meeting. He said BOI and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) China, were assigned to carry forward the initiative of industrial cooperation.
